Pipariya Riverfront Development Silvassa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli
Pipariya Riverfront Development Project, located within the urban area of Silvassa, aimed to provide a neighbourhood level recreational zone.
It included theme-based plazas, activity areas, a crematorium and pedestrian bridges as well as walkways at different levels to provide accessibility during seasonal water changes.
The riverfront was proposed along Pipariya River within Silvassa in the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
The river is narrow and held potential only of being a neighbourhood destination. For initial design consideration, Phase 1 was taken, which has residential development.
There are existing narrow walkways and a check dam.
Vision
The vision of riverfront design was to preserve and enhance the unique natural features of the site.
The idea was also to make water more accessible to people.
Activities were placed at the core of the project and four nodes were defined accordingly.
The features of the particular location and the immediate context were also considered.
