Visakhapatnam Port is one of the major Indian ports located on the eastern coast. Based on their vision and future cargo traffic demands of the port, VPT decided to prepare revised Land Use Plan for Visakhapatnam Port Trust Area.

After reviewing the Land Use Plan of 2015 for VPT, the revised plan was prepared in accordance with the present day requirement of the port as per Land Use Policy Guidelines 2015 and 2020 issued by Ministry of Shipping. After the detailed review of Land Use Plan 2015 and its comparative analysis with Existing Land Use, five years vision was formulated for VPT. The three major strategies include infrastructure upgradation, optimisation of land and creating green buffer to mitigate the impact of air pollution resulting from the port operations. Also, suggestions for better movement of vehicles and optimum use of the vacant lands for revenue generation were provided.
