Description of the project:

Indrashil University Campus with necessary infrastructure for academic, research as well as residential facilities is envisaged at Dholera, 110 km from Ahmedabad. The university is envisioned as a holistic learning environment which is futuristic, while also keeping the traditional practices of education intact. The built environment brings in the traditional concept of courtyards and skylights as a climatic responsive design.

The residential zones comprise of student hostel and staff residence, and are located in the centre of the university with academic and research zones on either sides. The field in the mid will contribute in storm water management and may also work as water basin if required. The core idea of the design was to use the water from site run-off and integrate it with the landscape through bio-swales and water bodies. The academic section is kept as a distinct node at one end of the campus.

Description of the project:

Environment Design for upcoming campus of Janvikas, an active organisation working in social service sector. The campus has two building blocks designed in rammed earth and local construction technique with the assistance of Hunnarshala Foundation at Bhuj.

The core idea was to develop the external spaces having informal quality of learning environment with varied themes inspired from natural elements without harming the existing neem trees on site.

Crematorium, Silvassa, D&NH

Description of the project:

The crematorium at Silvassa, situated on the banks of river Daman Ganga is designed having a pyramidal roof – a representation of connection of sky and earth as one. The building, introvert in nature opens only towards the edge of the river where the functions which fulfill the essential rites of crematorium are performed. The landscape features constitute large gardens, covered and open seating facilities, and Smiriti - 1, a meditative space which are cohesively designed along the existing nature of the site. The water drain on the site is also planned in agreement with the natural contour. The design is such that it separates the activities being performed at the crematorium from the gardens abutting the river edge. These gardens are merged with the riverfront and serve as a public place.

The project is a part of DPR for Daman Ganga Riverfront prepared by DPC.

Master Plan for Avani Industrial Park,

Description of the project:

Avani Industrial Park in Vadodara attempts to maximize the market potential by developing a high quality built environment conducive for Industrial Development.

The most significant feature of the old factory and the site is the spread of tree covers in the entire existing course of the road. The design concept thus attempts the maximum retention of existing flora and fauna and road infrastructure for the development of an environmentally sensitive plan of the Industrial Park. The master plan integrates various plot sizes flexible enough to amalgamate and subdivide the plot size according to the requirement. The plots are oriented east-west for the maximum consumption of north light and alternatively to reduce heat gain. The project is distinctively detailed with the theme and branding concept.

International Convention Centre at Rajgir,

Description of the project:

International Convention Centre is one of the first public buildings in Bihar to facilitate convention activities. The form of the Convention centre is inspired by form of the ‘Stupa’. The dome of the Convention hall is one of the largest domes in recent years with the clear span of 43.26 m. The casting of the dome on site was one of the most challenging and interesting feature of the project. Detailed stage drawings for cast in-situ of the dome were designed and prepared for the execution.

The project comprises of convention hall with 1300 capacity and a multipurpose amphitheatre with 900 capacities. Heritage museum, seminar and training complex which includes conference halls accommodating various capacities and other supporting facilities.

Roselabs Bioscience's Industry, Bavla, Gujarat

Description of the project:

A high service oriented design in cognation with Indian Pharmaceutical and USFDA standards was developed for this particular pharmaceutical building at Bavla, Ahmedabad. The Roselabs Bioscience’s pharmacy campus consists of four major buildings – manufacturing unit and office areas, service buildings and canteen, water treatment plant and a temple. The design is based on a grid system to accommodate the flexibility in its internal layout owing to the manufacturing equipments.

Description of the project:

Daman-Ganga riverfront, roughly a stretch of 2.0 km opens up to a naturally rich ecosystem, forming an easy attraction for the people of Silvassa thereby becoming a popular social centre. Parking thus becomes one of the most important factors for such a pedestrianized public place. The master planning involves parking at every accesses to river. River accesses-3 holds the parking P2 across the circuit house in which the client demanded to hold more capacity of vehicles to house the complete riverfront south of Athal bridge. Thus the multi-elevated level parking came in to picture.

Description of the project:

One of the pioneering comprehensive master plan was designed for the 300 acres land located on the foot of Western Ghats in Mangalore, Karnataka. A detailed site analysis, the physiographic of the site and study of the surrounding environment steered in designing and development of the township. The landscape plan consist a central spine which combines the core green and the water bodies of the site. The valleys are conserved and a network of greens is created which complements the site topography. The road network is based on the contours and the dwelling units and buildings fit into the surroundings embedded with principles of easy accessibility and memorability of the built environment.

This work has been recognised with HUDCO National Award for ‘Best New and Innovative Town Design Solutions/ Eco cities in India’, 2012.

Master Plan for Amba Township, Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Description of the project:

The residential township at Adalaj, Ahmedabad has been proposed on a low-lying site flanked by a railway line on one side and an ONGC well located in the centre. The main feature of Amba township is its central green open space with abutting circular road network, the radials of which open in the central space strengthening its position and experiential value. It also forms a large public space and allows the low-lying site to drain the watershed. The smaller plots are placed abutting the central space while the bigger plots are placed towards the edge. A separate entry for the ONGC well has also been provided.

Description of the project:

The unique feature of the Master plan for the campus is the pedestrian walkway around which the entire campus has been designed. Road networks, green open spaces and building structures have been integrated complimenting to the pedestrian walkways. Programmatic development combining academic, administrative, recreational and leisure activities has been formulated.

Description of the project:

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is building one of the largest campuses in Gandhinagar, the capital city of Gujarat. DPC has been appointed as a consultant by IIT to guide, advice and mediate the project. The varied scope of the project comprises of the selection of consultants, and designing and managing the design process. Critical evaluation of master plan, programmatic development, infrastructure design, landscape and architectural design will be assessed and relevant suggestions will be proposed at different design stages. A detailed study of hydraulics has also been prepared as the site is contoured with ravines and a concerned expertise has been consulted to guide the design process. Periodic site visits have been organised for quality construction and work management.

Description of the project:

The Indoor Sports Stadium at KSKV Kachchh University, Bhuj is envisaged to accommodate national level tournaments for Badminton and Table Tennis.

The stadium is designed bearing in mind the climatic factors and scope for the future expansion. The orientation of the stadium is north-south which helps in providing thermal comfort in the hot desert climate of Bhuj. The play area is screened with seating facilities in the south, and services in the east and west direction help in reducing the heat gain and allow the air change suggested for the play area. The slope of the arched roof is oriented such that it lessens the direct solar heat gain. The sloping roof provides better light and ventilation and also adds to the aesthetic value of the stadium. The project is worked in association with Multi Media Consultants Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad.
